Rhoades Car International has an Answer for Soaring Gas Prices
HENDERSONVILLE, TN – February 16, 2011 – Rhoades Car International, the nation’s leading four-wheel bicycle manufacturer, announced its answer to soaring gas prices today – the SportPed hybrid series of 4-wheel bicycles with electric-assist motor.
“We have individuals, couples and families all over the country ordering our SportPed hybrid 4-wheel bike series for different reasons. With gasoline prices projected to climb dramatically in 2011, gas savings is at the top of the list but family health and overall fitness weighs heavily in the decision too,” noted company President, Bill Pomakoy.
As bicycle industry consultant, Ed Benjamin, recently blogged — “The world has found and is close to the end of consuming the oil that is cheap to find, extract and process. We are in the midst of a change from oil that costs $1.00 per barrel to produce, to oil that costs as much as $60.00 per barrel to produce.” Benjamin’s belief is that the high cost of oil will result in more and more electric bike sales.
The SportPed is available in 1, 2 and 4-person models with its aerodynamically designed and tinted windshield for wind and UV protection. “Most people add our 42 gear option and the electric-assist motor because it allows them to literally replace their vehicle like a family in Greenburg, KS that bought a 4-seater and sold their family car,” added Pomakoy.
“The SportPed Series is as green as it gets,” noted Phyllis Shelton, VP of Marketing for Rhoades Car International. “So many baby boomers are ordering the SportPed because it is not only cool looking, but it’s a great way to get healthy and enjoy time together in the great outdoors,” Shelton added.
The SportPed allows two riders to pedal at a different pace because each rider has his or her own gears. And, if one rider gets tired, the other one can still propel the bike without the other pedals moving. If both riders want to take a break from pedaling, the optional 750-watt electric motor powered by two 12- volt batteries can propel the bike. The batteries recharge by plugging in to any 110 volt wall outlet.
“We have been making 4-wheel bicycles for 20 years, but I have to say that the SportPed is definitely the coolest model we have ever made. Everybody just loves it – and it gives us a great gas-alternative mode of transportation,” noted Pomakoy. See it for yourself at http://www.rhoadescar.com/sport-ped.html.
